The role and importance of tire balance weights

Summary:

The lead blocks on car tires, known as balance blocks, are an essential component of tires. Its core function is to prevent tire vibration during high-speed driving, thereby ensuring stable vehicle operation, which is commonly known as tire dynamic balance. A balance block is essentially a type of counterweight component that, through a specific installation method, can effectively ensure the dynamic balance of the wheel during high-speed rotation, whether it is attached to the inner ring of the wheel or externally attached to the outer edge of the wheel, thereby ensuring the comfort of the driver and passengers and the stability of vehicle driving.

The role and importance of tire balance weights

The wheels of a car, which are composed of tires and rims, inevitably have uneven mass distribution in actual production. When the wheels rotate at high speeds, this unevenness can lead to dynamic imbalance, which in turn causes wheel shaking and steering wheel vibration during vehicle operation. To correct this issue or remedy it after it occurs, we need to adjust the balance of the wheel edges by adding counterweights. This calibration process is what we call wheel dynamic balancing.

Normally, the balance block is stable and does not require frequent adjustments. However, after replacing tires or performing tire repairs, dynamic balancing adjustments may be necessary due to changes in the quality of the tires and wheels. Through specialized balancing machine testing, we can determine the location of the imbalance and add balance weights at the corresponding positions to balance the weight. In addition, during the daily process of tire alignment and replacement, it is also necessary to pay attention to maintaining the balance of the wheels.
